Calvary Christian Church

Fellowship

At Calvary Christian Church we encourage Christian fellowship that produces lasting bonds of friendship and love. We sponsor many weekly, monthly and yearly activities in wholesome environments that nurture a family atmosphere among our church membership. Strong Christian friendship meets the human, God-created need for fellowship. It provides a place where we can receive encouragement and accountability in our daily lives, and offers us the opportunity to minister to the needs of others.

“If there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” Philippians 2:1-4

Singles Group

The single’s ministry is designed to meet the needs of young people of active college age and beyond.  Many singles are extremely busy with the affairs of this life.  Some singles work two jobs, go to school full time, and they faithfully serve within the local church’s choir, orchestra, and with various children’s ministries.

Singles need a time to get away from their frantic lifestyles and find nourishment for their soul through structured activities.  We have a weekly Sunday school class to meet the spiritual needs of young people, and we organize social events in order to strengthen and encourage godly relationships within the Body of Christ.

If your spiritual walk needs energizing, get plugged into Calvary’s Single’s Group.

Fellowship Camp

The epitome of fellowship at Calvary, and the highlight of our calendar year, is our annual Fellowship Camp – a tradition of Calvary Christian Church for over twenty years.

Many of the church families plan their summer vacations around Fellowship Camp when, in August, we pack up and head to camp for a week of relaxation, fun, and Christian fellowship.

DSC_0357Fellowship Camp allows people to get outside of the traditional church setting and interact with others on a more personal level. Whether it’s spending time together relaxing around the campfire, sitting at the beach, sharing meals together in the common dining hall, or engaging in competitive games, Fellowship Camp is all about friendships.  Many life-long relationships have been established and strengthened while camping together.

Accommodations:
The campground offers accommodations for every kind of camper with everything from rustic to more refined cabins. There’s basketball, tennis and volleyball courts, softball diamonds, a soccer field, shooting ranges, obstacle courses, rock walls, zip lines, hiking trails and the list goes on and on.

Water Activities:
At the lake, there are many water activities to enjoy such as swimming, canoeing, paddle boating, snorkeling, fishing, tubing, and water skiing.  There is something fun to do for everyone.  As long as the weather is warm and the sun is high in the sky you will find folks down at the lake.

Worship at Camp:
Our services during the week include a water baptism service at the lake, a special Sunday evening service in the chapel, and a campfire service. The Sunday evening service opens with a wonderful time of praise and worship and is followed by a message from a special speaker that brings a challenge to everyone’s spiritual walk. Often, after the message there is a time of inspired prayer and real meetings with God at the altar. The Campfire service is another refreshing time as we worship the Lord around the fire with guitars and voices. Once the time of worship is finished, this special evening continues long after dark as everyone is invited to personally share and give thanks for the good things God has done in their lives.

Sports & Fun:
If you enjoy a lot of action, sporting events (like: golf, soccer, softball, sand volleyball) and organized activities (crafts, archery, rifle and skeet shooting competitions) are scheduled throughout the week for young and old alike.  You can participate in as much or as little (we call it geriatric camping) as you like at camp.

Evening Activities:
In the evening the dining hall becomes a game conference center, where the rivalry is fun and fierce. Bring your favorite table game or join in cheering on others who take pleasure in playing games.  The enjoyment lasts into the wee hours of the night and the spoils belong to the victor.

Among the young and the young at heart Fellowship Camp has become a favorite Calvary family “vacation destination.” So mark your calendars and get ready for a family week like none other – we’ll see you there!

IMG_2519Women’s Ministry

If you desire to grow in your walk with the Lord and fellowship with other women who have this same goal, we welcome you to the Ladies Ministry of Calvary Christian Church.

This ministry exists for the purpose of:

  • Providing an atmosphere for women of all ages to nurture friendships, find support, and mentor and pray for one another.
  • Encouraging women to grow in our knowledge of God and to apply His Word in every area of our lives.
  • Discipling women to effectively and joyfully minister to our families, friends, co-workers and neighbors as we touch others for Christ.

We meet once a month for teaching on a variety of Biblical topics with particular emphasis on our roles as women. During our meetings, we share brunch and enjoy fellowship and discussion groups where we do what many ladies like to do the most . . . . talk!

Several other activities and outings are planned throughout the year for additional times of fun, fellowship and sharing.

Memorial Service & Picnic

The Sunday prior to Memorial Day, Calvary Christian Church celebrates the lives of the brave men and women who have served in the United States military. The Sunday church service is dedicated to commemorating those who have risked and lost their lives in the armed forces defending our freedom and liberty.Following church service we gather together at Civic Center Park in Madison Heights for a traditional church picnic.

The picnic is always fun, with an abundance of all-American food and a variety of games and activities including: three legged races, soccer, basketball, the always-popular softball game, along with a baking competition complete with great prizes for the winners. When it comes to the baking competition you can bet there is never a lack of judges! Each year it is our privilege to invite all veterans to attend the service as our special guests of honor and to come eat for free at the picnic.

Fall Fun Night

DSC_0555Calvary’s Fun Night is a time to enjoy a time of fellowship and games as a church family. There are many carnival style games and assorted prizes for the children to enjoy, as well as, an outdoor petting zoo, and one of the all time favorite attractions, a moonwalk.
